Did you brave the mall/Target/anywhere outside your home this weekend? It was a ZOO out there...so many people out and about finishing (or maybe starting) their Christmas shopping. It can be exhausting to deal with the packed parking lots, long lines, and crowded aisles, but people...that is no excuse for treating others rudely!!
Now, I know that none of our wonderful readers would ever be rude to a fellow shopper or a cashier, but I am honestly appalled at the Grinch-like behavior I have been seeing out there. Can't we all just get along? There are so many things that we can all do for each other to brighten others' days instead of bringing people down and creating an atmosphere of "Bah Humbug."
How about instead of whipping your car into that open parking space right in front of another person, just keep driving and let someone else enjoy the short walk into the store.
How about instead of giving someone a dirty look and pulling in front of them in the drive-thru, let them go in front of you...that 2 extra minutes isn't going to be a big deal to you, but an act of kindness can brighten someone else's whole day!
Even better...pay for the next car's order in the Starbucks drivethru!
Instead of elbowing your way through an aisle, step aside and let someone go by.
When you're smiling, the whole world smiles with you...keep a smile on your face instead of a scowl and you will be amazed at how others respond to you.
Hold doors open for people.
Got a full cart and the person behind you only has one item? Let them in front of you!
Greet your cashier/waiter with a smile and use the magic words (Please/Thank You). They aren't just for kids!
Despite the Grinches out there, I know there are so many people out there doing good deeds both big (love you KC Secret Santa!) and small (thanks to the person who bought my latte for me!). How about you? How do you spread the Holiday Spirit to those around you this time of year? What random acts of kindness have you done or witnessed this year?
