WOMEN AND THE RHETORIC OF THE INTERGROUP RELATIONS MOVEMENT
to
National Museum of Toys and Miniatures 5235 Oak St., Kansas City, Missouri

In 1951, the Heart of American Chapter of B’nai B’rith Women launched Dolls for Democracy, a program that used dolls to teach children about diversity and tolerance. Visiting elementary classrooms, Sunday Schools, and scout troops, the B’nai B’rith members used dolls to demonstrate the values of democracy and service. Dr. Jane Greer, a Curators’ Distinguished Teaching Professor at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, will discuss how these fascinating dolls and the “doll ladies” who told their stories were important forerunners to today’s educational programs that promote equity and inclusion. Included with admission. Free for members.
