We often think of autumn as the season for crisp air, hiking in the woods, apple picking and pumpkin patches... but what's a family to do when the clouds burst open for a fall storm? If you're looking for great ways to enjoy Fall Family Fun in KC Inside.... these are our Five Favorites for indoor Fall Fun.

Visit the Louisburg Cider Mill.
You will savor the smells of fresh homemade apple cider and, in the morning, hot apple cider donuts! Kids love to peer through the windows during the donut making process and nothing tastes like autumn quite like a delicious donut. You'll love the country feel of the Cider Mill, and on "good weather days" your kids will enjoy exploring the corn maze, pumpkin patch, and cider mill tours. -
Discover native animals at Burr Oak Woods Nature Center.
The nature center offers wonderful hands-on exhibits, inside, including puppets, touch-and-feel exhibits, a great bird watching room for families where you can observe native birds, including wild turkeys, and a large aquarium full of Missouri fish. The center is also home to many wonderful hiking trails when the weather is nice, and they offer wonderful classes, films, and programs for free! -
Escape at KidScape at the Johnson County Museum.
KidScape is a wonderful FREE exhibit for young children (we recommend it for early elementary and younger). Children love to explore the "child-size town" complete with a theater, hospital, boutique, golf course, city hall, farm, and more. This is a great place to use your imagination and explore. -
Spend the day under the stars at the Gottlieb Planetarium.
Science City is home to Kansas City's very own planetarium where the entire family will enjoy learning about our solar system. The Gottlieb Planetarium is one of the largest domed planetariums in the Midwest showing educational and fascinating programs for all ages. Or, check out Dinosaurs Alive 3-D on the Extreme Screen. After enjoying a show, venture to Science City for some hands-on educational fun at the Mister E. Hotel, the Dinosaur Dig, the Musical Playground, and more! -
Be a Kid for a Day at the Toy & Miniature Museum.
The Toy & Miniature Museum is one the most fun museums in Kansas City. Kids love to discover the dollhouses, trains, marble room, and much more. Several of the exhibits are interactive and a current favorite is the Barbie Exhibit, here through December 2010.
