As we all well know (as I'm sure your kids are reminding you each day of this week), Halloween is quickly approaching. And with Halloween comes free candy, which even grown-ups will enjoy, and COSTUMES!! Probably my favorite costume as a kid was going to school as a Hershey's kiss in 2nd grade. I don't know how my mom pulled that homemade costume together, but it was fantastic because it was unique and well thought through. I loved it!
Last Halloween, we had a young girl, around 8 or 9, come to our door in workout type clothing (adidas pants, sneakers, a sweatband on her head, etc). The clothes were oversized - probably clothes of her mom's that she was wearing. So were the sneakers and so forth. I asked her what she was for Halloween, and she said, "The winner of the show The Biggest Loser." Now doesn't that creativity deserve some extra candy? I think so!
My daughter is 16 months and will be wearing an adorable ladybug costume that we picked up at the Just Between Friends Consignment Sale this year for $3....can you beat that price?!? She even got to wear it this past weekend at a birthday party for a friend turning one. The birthday boy's mom had asked that we dress the kids in their costumes, so we had a dog, a monkey, a ladybug, a KSU football player and a little (3mo) KSU cheerleader cheering him on.
Costumes are so fun for the kids to wear. It's entertaining watching our little ones walk up to their friends, who they know apart from the costume, and try and figure out exactly what is standing in front of them. These pictures make for great reminders of just how fun and adorable the kids were when they tapped into their kid-spirit, became Tinkerbell or a pirate for the night, and waited in anticipation to do it all again next year.
So, what is a favorite Halloween costume you had growing up? Any creative ideas this year that your kids are going to be?
