Yep, you read that right. In the month of April when we focus on going green, I'll share with you 3 reasons why we don't participate in curbside recycling.
1. You have to pay extra for it. That just annoys me.
2. I am still not convinced that once you do pay the fee and put out your green tub filled with items that they truly take them and recycle them.
3. Have you driven through your neighborhood on a windy trash day? The stuff from the recycle tub blows all over the neighborhood, leaving a huge mess. Papers are blown up against fences and cartons are in the middle of the street. One of course then worries, "Is that junk mine?" and you don't want to litter, so you spend time picking up materials that may or may not be yours.
Now, don't get me wrong. We do our part to help out. We collect all papers and take them to our local school and place in the recycle bins as well as collect our soda cans and take them to Tori's school where they recycle them and use the money from the cans for the school. I'll continue my one woman protest against curbside recycling until a better plan is in place.
