Take the Car Free Challenge.
The Missouri Bicycle and Pedestrian Federation urges everyone to take the Car Free Challenge during the month of May. Bike or walk to work, or try cycling for short trips to the library, movies, post office. Participants should register at www.bikekc.org. Sign up to log your car-free miles and win great prizes. Bike week events including: free fun group rides, bike maintenance classes and bike and breakfast tours will be held around the metro area. For more information visit www.bikekc.org

Following are some tips that will help you enjoy biking to work more.
- Always wear a helmet. Your Helmet should be worn level and snug.
- Drive on the Right. Always bike with traffic.
- Obey All Traffic Laws. Stop at stop signs and lights and obey one-way streets.
- Look, signal & Yield Before Turns. It is now legal to signal a right turn with your right arm.
- Ride in a Predictable Manner. Ride in a straight line. Don’t swerve between parked cars.
- Use Head & Tail Lights at Night. Headlights are required by Kansas and Missouri law.
- Yield to Pedestrians. Pedestrians have the right of way.
