I received some money from my in-laws for my birthday. They always tell me to be sure to spend it on something for myself, so I decided to buy an Easter dress. Tori was off early on Thursday, so I took the girls to the mall with me in search of a dress (for me) and shoes (for them). We tackled the shoes first. After some discussion over what I deemed appropriate for church (no sandals or heels) we made our purchases. Then we went to the dress department.
I can't remember a time I have shopped for something for myself with them along. I was quickly reminded why, when I shop for me, I do it by myself. First, I had to try and corral them as they ran from dress to dress (touching each one) saying "Look at this one, mom. Isn't it pretty?" Once I found several to try on, we made our way to the dressing room. Ally asked if I would be taking my clothes off to try on the dresses and I told her yes. Her response was "Oh no, do we have to see your private parts?" I told her that she would be spared seeing my "private parts". Then the girls had to argue over who got to zip me up, so we worked out a zipping rotation. As I am trying on the dresses, Ally comments, "Your bottom is big and Jello-like". At that point it became crystal clear as to why I shop ALONE.
By the way, I did get a darling dress, shrug and pink sandals that I will on Easter, Jello-bottom and all!
