Hunt for Buried Treasure with Pirates
- Pirate Ship Cruises at Longview Lake. On 2nd and 4th Saturdays in July, you can enjoy a special pirate-themed cruise on Longview Lake. Take a boat ride, then, as pirates "attack the boat," kids help them discover buried treasure! Reservations are suggested. $12/adults, $7/children 12 and under. - Go on a Treasure Hunt at Powell Gardens. Powell Gardens (816.697.2600. 1609 N.W. U.S. Highway 50 Kingsville, MO.) exhibit Fairy Houses & Forts: An Enchanting Garden Adventure is on display through Oct. 7. The exhibit includes a Pirate Ship and buried treasure for kids to find! Regional designers have created large-scale fairy houses and fanciful forts to inspire, amuse and ignite an interest in exploring the great outdoors.From the mysterious structure on Skeleton Island to the hide-in-plain-sight fun of "Mirror-Mirror," the exhibition is a garden kingdom waiting to be discovered and the exhibition is included with regular Garden admission. - Pirates for Dummies: TWO Programs - Blue Springs South Mid-Continent Public Library (July 5, 2:00-3:00) and South Independence Mid-Continent Public Library (July 28, 2:00-3:00). What happens when a jester decides to give up entertaining and join the pirates? Find out in this great interactive show with Cornelius the jester and Bess the gypsy bard. The gypsy and the jester bring laughs with stories, jokes, silliness and share how to be a pirate. Catch a ride on the Happy Faces Entertainment pirate ship before it sets sail.

There are several parks in the Metro with wonderful pirate ship-themed playgrounds for kids. These are perfect settings for parties and everyday play!
- Olathe's Frontier Park (15501 Indian Pkwy.) is the home of a pirate ship playscape. This park is guaranteed to capture the imagination of your little buccaneers!
- Shawnee’s Listowel Park (71st & Quivira).This park is known as “Pirate’s Park” among neighborhood kids. The playground is equipped with a pirate ship with a captain’s wheel, flag and sails.
- Lee's Summit’s Williams-Grant Park (401 SE Howard St.) features a pirate ship playground.
