Father's Day is right around the corner, and unless you are the type of person who is organized and knows exactly what you want to give Dad, there is a good chance that you're wondering what kind of gifts to give. For some reason, these days are always more challenging for me. I want to give something creative and special, but also feel no need to break the bank in doing so. After all, it's because you have kids that you are celebrating the day, and that is why I think the gifts should be from the little ones!
Thankfully, there are still 5 days left to create the perfect Father's Day gift, so here are just a few ideas that can get you in the crafty mood with your kids:
1. World's Best Dad Beverage Cooler - a foam koozy, foam wacky letters with sticky backs, and craft foam pre-cut shapes is all you need for this project that kids can help create.
2. Father's Day Coupon Box - this is great for kids who are a little older than tots! Kids can decorate the outside of a peanut can with paper (anything you want to use here), and they can contribute ideas that Dad can eventually "cash in" on, like taking out the trash, watering the flowers, sweeping up after mowing the grass, sleeping in on a Saturday, etc.
3. Father's Day Picture Frames - take the kids to the local craft store, pick out an unfinished wooden frame and other unfinished wooden items to personalize it for Dad, and have the kids help you paint and decorate! You can even take a special (funny) picture to go in the frame!
4. "Dad Rocks" Paperweight - This is made out of salt dough! You'll just need 1/4 c salt, 1/2 c flour, 1/4 c water, cookie sheet, and 1/2 c pea gravel. www.familycorner.com has easy directions to follow for this one.
5. Special Video - Ask your kids to share favorite memories of Dad on video, and then share it with him! This is a great treasure for years to come!
Of course, don't underestimate the suggestions that your kids might have as well! Ask they what they would like to give Dad, and see what ideas they generate. Maybe visiting a local craft store will get your creative juices flowing. Remember, it's not about how much money you spend, it is about the memories, love, and showing your affection for a really important person in life: Dad!
