In Kansas City, we enjoy many “u-pick farms” across the metro area where you may pick blueberries, strawberries, apples, peaches, fresh vegetables, and more. It's the season for delicious u-pick produce!

Please note, that some farms from previous years are no longer in business or no longer offer u-pick. This list will get you started! If you know of a patch to add to the list, email Kristina@KCParent.com. This list may not be reprinted in print or online without permission.

Produce Picking Tips:

  • Call ahead or check the farm's Facebook Page (linked in the status update for each farm) to verify picking times as they vary from farm to farm. This is a MUST!
  • Remember comfortable shoes (you will be walking in fields) and wear sunscreen.
  • Bring bottled water and pack a picnic if the farm allows.
  • And, don’t forget your camera… children enjoying a day at the farm makes a great photo op!

🥧Historic Weston Orchard & Vineyard

🥧The Berry Patch

  • Status as of 6/24/24: Hey folks Farmer Caleb here with your U-Pick update for this week! I have good news and bad news. Let’s knock out the bad news. There’s not much in the way of black raspberries out there We are definitely on the tail end of their season and really the red raspberries aren’t a whole lot more prolific. There are some and there’s a good bit of unripe ones that might be ready by weekend but don’t expect to fill a quart of either, and even a pint might take ya awhile! Now the good news! The blackberries are loaded! Get out here and fill flats of blackberries to start making those jams, jellies, melomels, ciders, infused lemonade, cocktails, ect! And it’s not just one variety either, the Natchez are definitely more prolific but I highly recommend trying all three, one right after the other to taste the flavor differences! The blueberries are a bit thin but not bad and there’s loads of unripe ones waiting in the ranks! And last but not least we are going to go ahead and leave open the milk jar option for flowers for this week till we do our full open for flowers this Saturday the 29th! Those Dahlia and Cactus Zinnias and Celosia are absolutely amazing and deserve to brighten your home! Oh and P.S. while still recommend coming out early to dodge the heat, we do have a really nice shade tent set up out there now for ya! I hope to see ya out in the field this week! -Farmer Caleb
