Who doesn’t love a meal out? And who doesn’t love a good time? Why not combine the two with a place that offers both? Kansas City is home to several fun locations where you can enjoy a meal while having a good time. The spots below are good for families, couples, groups of friends and anyone looking for a fun night out!
Pinstripes, located in south Overland Park, offers dining, bowling and bocce all in one location! First and foremost, be sure to make a reservation if you’d like to bowl or play bocce, as there may be a wait if you just walk in. You can choose to dine at the restaurant and then play or you can eat while playing. Bar tables, along with a sofa, are in by the bowling alley, so eating while playing is easy. In addition to lunch and dinner, Pinstripes offers a Sunday brunch. We went to the brunch for my birthday one year and then stayed and bowled. It made for a nice way to spend the day! The atmosphere at Pinstripes is relaxed and intimate. A day or night there is always a good time!
Topgolf combines good food and good fun and serves up an evening out to be enjoyed by all (even teens, who can be notoriously hard to please). If you are a first-time visitor, here a few things you should know. To play, you need a Topgolf card ($5). The line for the card is different than the line to get on the waitlist, and you can’t join the waitlist without the card. So check which line you are in. You will be outdoors, something to keep in mind if the weather’s really hot or really cold. If you encounter a wait, Topgolf offers levels of fun while you wait. You’ll find pool tables, foosball, life-sized Jenga and more. There is also a bar area if you’d just like to dine. Tables are first-come, first-served. My best tip? Order the brisket grilled cheese. You can thank me later.
Locally owned Chicken N Pickle brings together the game of pickleball with good food and fun times. They have indoor and outdoor pickleball courts, and if you’ve never played or aren’t familiar with the game, no worries! The staff will help you with the rules. The establishment also offers ping-pong tables, life-sized Battleship, Jenga, sidewalk chalk, table board games and more. Two of the courts are for open play, the rest can be reserved online for a fee. (Booking for the courts opens 30 days out, and dates fill quickly, so be sure to reserve a court in advance.) The food is fast-casual, order-at-the-counter and will be brought to your table. Everything is made fresh and in house—the pulled pork sandwich was very flavorful and tender! Prepare to spend several fun hours at Chicken N Pickle!
