I suppose you could say I was a bit of a Sesame Street fan as a child. In addition to watching the shows, one of my favorite books involved that “loveable, furry, old Grover” as the Monster at the End of the Book. My sister and I even dressed as Bert and Ernie for Halloween one year. So yeah, you could definitely say I was a fan.
Now that I have my own children, the street has changed a bit. Elmo’s World is arguably the most popular part of the show. Just ask the closest two year old!
Last year, my family went to Sesame Street Live. I’d be lying if I told you my kids were the only ones looking forward to the show. At the time, my two year old was a huge Elmo fan, so I couldn’t wait to see her reaction to the show. I was also looking forward to a little nostalgia from my own childhood. I wasn’t disappointed.
The show was perfect for the preschool crowd. The colorful characters, music, and short story format was just right. All the singing and dancing kept my children entertained from beginning to end. That’s saying a lot for three children five and under!
Were you a Sesame Street fan? Are your children? If so, you’re in luck. Sesame Street Live is returning to Kansas City January 13-16. Even better, if you enter in the code “PARENT,” you’ll receive a $5 discount per ticket.
So tell me, who was/is your favorite Sesame Street character? Do you have any other favorite childhood shows that you enjoy with your children? What about new shows that you don’t mind watching with them? Phineas and Ferb anyone?
